This Friday, December 1, as Chestertown kicks off its inaugural ‘Dickens of a Christmas’ weekend, Sultana’s Richard & Virginia Holt Center (200 S. Cross St.) will be a hive of activity as the Sultana Education Foundation hosts its final First Friday event of 2017.

Marc Castelli’s new book, ‘Building Sultana’ will be on display and for sale. This a collection of 200 drawings by Marc during SULTANA’s construction and launch 20 years ago. This is a limited printing of 300 copies, each signed and numbered by the artist.

John Andrew McCown will be on hand shucking oysters from 5:00-7:00 pm. These Chesapeake delicacies are on sale for a ‘buck a shuck’ until they’re gone.

Rising music talent, Benji Price, will entertain with a chill acoustic set from 5:00-7:00 pm.

Sultana’s staff will assist children of all ages to design unique snowflake ornaments from 5:00-7:30 pm.

Warm yourself by our outdoor firepit and enjoy a taste of summer as we roast S’mores from 5:00-7:30 pm, while supplies last.

Finally, at 7:30 pm we will dim the lights and the Chesapeake Bay floor map will come alive as Chris Cerino presents the Captain John Smith Digital Map Presentation. Cerino will guide you through 35 million years of Chesapeake history (with a particular focus on Smith and the Native Americans) in about 30 minutes.

We hope to see as many locals and visitors as possible come through the doors of the Holt Center to celebrate December’s Festive First Friday with us.
