The President’s Award is awarded annually to a Maryland behavioral health peer community member who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in advocacy, peer support, organizational creativity, and community outreach and engagement efforts. It has been awarded for more than 10 years and its recipient is chosen at the discretion of the On Our Own of Maryland’s Board President, Nevett Steele.

Lane was instrumental in establishing CVI in 2009, and has served as the executive director since inception. Through her leadership, diligence, hard work and compassion, she personifies these qualities, and serves as an advocate for those in the behavioral health peer community. She has cemented integral partnerships throughout the Mid-Shore and the broader Maryland community of peers, local providers and administrators.

In addition to her work at CVI, Lane serves on the board of directors for Main Street Housing and as secretary on the board of directors for On Our Own of Maryland. She is on the Wellness Recovery Action Plan Advisory Committee, Recovery For Shore and Behavioral Health Services Network through Mid-Shore Behavioral Health.

Chesapeake Voyagers is a wellness and recovery, peer support organization serving adults with mental health and addiction issues in the Mid-Shore.

By providing a safe environment where people can meet, interact and receive one-on-one and group-based peer support with others in their community, CVI helps to promote the belief that wellness and recovery is possible.
